DarkSky Vermont works through partnership.
Protecting the night in Vermont is not something any one person or organization can do alone. It depends on collaboration across science, education, conservation, community outreach, public policy, and place-based stewardship.
We welcome partnership with organizations, institutions, municipalities, commissions, schools, libraries, parks, astronomy groups, and community leaders who share an interest in better lighting, dark skies, conservation, and Vermont’s nighttime landscape.
Featured partners and collaborators
Vermont State Parks
Vermont State Parks has been assessing parks across the system to help identify candidates for future DarkSky Park designation. DarkSky Vermont has been glad to support that work and to support the Vermont State Parks interpreter program with a focus on dark-sky education. We value this growing collaboration and the shared commitment to stewardship, public education, and Vermont’s nighttime environment.
Vermont Department of Tourism & Marketing
DarkSky Vermont is grateful to collaborate with Vermont Tourism in highlighting the state’s exceptional night skies as a destination feature. Their “Stargazing in Vermont” guide is a great resource for residents and visitors looking to experience Vermont’s dark skies:

Springfield Telescope Makers / Stellafane
Springfield Telescope Makers and Stellafane are an important part of Vermont’s astronomy and public-education landscape. Their work connects telescope making, observing, outreach, and appreciation for the night sky, and their organization has long been part of the cultural fabric of astronomy in Vermont.
DarkSky Massachusetts
DarkSky Massachusetts offers a strong regional example of chapter-based education, advocacy, events, and practical policy work on outdoor lighting. We value opportunities to learn from and collaborate with neighboring dark-sky efforts in New England.
North Branch Nature Center
North Branch Nature Center is a Vermont-based hub for environmental education, stewardship, and nature connection. Based in Montpelier, NBNC works to help people “learn, teach, and play together in nature,” supporting resilient communities and ecosystems through programs for youth, adults, educators, and the broader public. We’re glad to recognize NBNC as a partner in building appreciation for Vermont’s natural heritage, including the value of dark and starry night skies.
